FirstMate is one of Canada’s fastest growing manufacturers of cat and dog foods.
FirstMate offers a variety of quality dog and cat canned and kibble pet food diets, and recently launched their new product line of dog treats.
Pace Creative designed the packaging for their new Dehydrated Dog Treats in Wild Caught Salmon and Cage Free Chicken formulas. These unique designs needed to be fresh and different than all other FirstMate packaging, while staying true to the brand.
How were we able to create a unique look to separate the new product line while sticking to FirstMate’s brand?
For the treat bags’ look and feel, we wanted to create a design that distinguished them from all other FirstMate product categories. This way, we could avoid customer confusion between treats and other kibble bags but still have a label that was true to the brand’s identity.
After extensive research on dog treats packaging, we identified features that would be most important to buyers. Keeping these in mind, we developed some initial concepts for the client to consider and review, before making adjustments that brought us to the final design.
The final design label features a layout that showcases the product’s top benefits and points of sale. The packaging was fresh and unique, and established a solid base for the brand’s treat bag style.
We identified a variety of the strongest package designs and implemented features such as a window cut-out and resealable top.
The final chosen package label designs have created a strong foundation for the look and feel of FirstMate’s new product line. These bag designs are original and well received by customers.
The launch of the new treats has ignited excitement in retailers and customers who are eager for the launch of the next line of treats. Pace Creative is finalizing designs for the soon to come FirstMate Extruded Treats, and has even started working on new container size packages for these Dehydrated Treats.
